Holding Myself Acoountable To Drawing series week 1

Found this Solo Artist curriculum ( https://www.brendanmeachen.com/soloartist )a few days ago, and I think it overlaps over what I've already been studying so I'll follow that. It covers Proko anatomy drawing videos, the DrawABox courses, perspective, Loomis heads, cloth physics, etc.

I'd like to be an animator on Newgrounds, do webcomics, video game fanart illustrations, stuff like that. I want to try a NG collab at some point, finding people to voice animations I make or me contributing art to an as2 or html game someone codes (I can't code, I've tried)

Art inspiring me right now: Akira Yasuda Street Fighter art, Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, Tekken, RubberNinja, TerminalMontage, NoahSegura, Legend of Zelda games, Zack & Wiki,

Current art challenges: Finish the plants lesson on DrawABox, do the 250 cylinders challenge on DrawABox, 100 faces (life drawing) challenge, and I'm thinking of drawing the first 150 Pokemon as a art challenge.

  • I'll focus on the plant lesson first to decongest this section.

What part of the curriculum I'm on: I'm alternating between Term 1 and Term 2 a bit. The challenges I've set for myself are part of the curriculum actually except the Pokemon one. There are 9 terms total, and I'll make sure to only do them as linearly as possible.

Music I listened to a lot this week: Street Fighter 3 Third Strike OST, Wind Waker OST, VA-11 HA-LLA OST, Sonic music (1,2,3,K,CD,MegaCollection), Tetris Worlds OST, 808 State, Squarepusher, miscellaneous Drum n Bass.

Hardware/software/tools/methodologies I may start using: iPad Pro 12.9 w/ Apple Pencil and Procreate, maybe Callipeg or Flipaclip or Gartic Phone for animation. I also read about "autonatic drawing" yesterday and that Moebius used to do it, I think I'll start doing that between pictures and at the start of sessions.

I highly recommend checking out the website, it's a free resource to help artists trying to learn from home. You can find a lot of knowledge for free nowadays.

I day work about 35 hours a week right now and may wind up going to school in the Fall for something else, but I hope I could become an artist instead. Time will tell.
